Like many of you, I am a guest on these lands. My ancestors come from Scotland, Ireland, North Africa, and the Miꞌkmaq nation of the area now known as the Canadian Atlantic Provinces. I wish to honor and acknowledge that I have the privilege of creating and collaborating on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, which includes the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, in a place now known as Vancouver, BC. It is important to know where we come from, and where we live. I make this acknowledgment as a small act of reconciliation, and I recognize and respect Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land.
